Well, I can't really play since it is so different to pick a StSt from an early era (which I am confident anyone would pick over a later version...right?) because of the utterly different approaches they took to the song early and late. I would, however, point to some of the early era StSt-->NFA combos as being better than this one...70 & 71.

Will have to have to leave it to you folks that know the late 70s better since that is really where the comparison should be focused...

you have to take into account the way those songs flowed and grooved on that particular night. we could all look at better versions of songs if we look hard enough. what's the point? as a complete show, cornell is great. definetely among the top shows of 77, and maybe all time. i love the legend of cornell. it is fascinating. always some good grist for the grateful dead mill.
